Chemical Compatibility of Dewatering Fabrics & Composites
Select fabric, liner, thread and connections against the actual chemistry, concentration, temperature and exposure.
Chemical Compatibility of Dewatering Fabrics & Composites
Selected for your slurry. Manufactured for your project.
Chemical resistance is a material-selection requirement for mine water, process sludge and industrial residues. FlowTex considers the complete bag or tube construction and the exposure conditions. A pH value or polymer name alone cannot establish suitability.

Start with the full chemical description
Provide chemical names, concentrations, pH, operating and peak temperatures, contact duration and any cleaning chemicals. Include a safety data sheet or process analysis where available. Mixed streams and changing feed conditions need separate consideration.
Polypropylene and polyethylene options
The range includes polypropylene woven fabrics and liners, plus selected polyethylene monofilament filters. These polymers can resist many aqueous chemical environments, but resistance depends on the actual grade and exposure. Do not treat resistance to one dilute solution as approval for all acids, alkalis or process streams.
Identify demanding exposures
Flag oxidising chemicals, concentrated reagents, solvents, hydrocarbons and elevated temperatures at the enquiry stage. A compatibility assessment may require grade-specific data or immersion testing of representative material. The assessment must also consider mechanical loading.
Assess the complete construction
The outer fabric, composite liner, sewing thread, port components, closures and hose connections may use different materials. The most resistant component does not establish the compatibility of the assembled bag. Confirm the selected components in the technical submission.
Separate compatibility from treatment
A chemically compatible bag primarily separates suspended solids. Dissolved salts, metals, reagents and other substances can remain in the filtrate. Collect and test the water against the intended reuse, treatment or discharge criteria.
Document the assessment
Identify the feed composition, exposure conditions, proposed construction, evidence reviewed and any limitations or further tests. Avoid a blanket pH 1–14 claim or a universal chemical-resistance guarantee without product-specific evidence.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Are FlowTex dewatering bags and tubes available from stock?
FlowTex holds stock for immediate supply. Ask for the available grade, dimensions and quantity; allocation is confirmed for the order. Custom dimensions or a different construction require a fabrication programme. Dispatch readiness and delivery time are confirmed separately.
Is pH enough to choose a dewatering fabric?
No. Chemical identity, concentration, temperature, duration, mixtures and mechanical loading also matter. Supply the actual process information and review every component of the assembly.
Can a highly resistant sewing thread protect an incompatible fabric?
No. Thread, fabric, liner and connections each require assessment. Resistance of one component cannot establish suitability of the whole enclosure.
