Mine Tailings & Mineral Slurry Dewatering

Geotextile dewatering selection and South African manufacture for tailings, plant sump sludge and mineral-processing residues across Africa.

Mine Tailings & Mineral Slurry Dewatering

Selected for your slurry. Manufactured for your project.

Tailings, plant sump sludge and mineral-processing residues need a process matched to the feed, working programme and required cake and filtrate condition.

Product selection

Technical guidance for your project

Compare the published grades, then confirm the supplied construction and project requirements in the technical submission.

From specification to site

Fabrication, QA/QC & African project supply

Characterise the feed

Particle-size distribution, mineralogy, abrasive content, dry-solids load, pH and process reagents.

Select by trial

Compare structural woven and composite constructions with actual tailings. Assess dense slurry loading, port abrasion and the complete seam design.

Plan the complete operation

Measure filtrate suspended solids and relevant dissolved species; geotextile filtration does not by itself remove dissolved metals.

Specify the result

Agree dry-solids processing duty, filtrate criteria, cake handling condition, sampling points and observation period. Establish acceptance criteria before procurement.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Are FlowTex dewatering bags and tubes available from stock?

FlowTex holds stock for immediate supply. Ask for the available grade, dimensions and quantity; allocation is confirmed for the order. Custom dimensions or a different construction require a fabrication programme. Dispatch readiness and delivery time are confirmed separately.

Can tailings be dewatered without flocculant?

Some feeds may drain adequately without conditioning; others need a polymer programme. Compare representative unconditioned and conditioned samples. Do not infer performance from another mine or from clean-water permeability.

Does a 105 kN/m fabric make a tailings tube safe at any filling pressure?

No. The finished enclosure depends on seams, ports, geometry, slurry density, filling height and the operating procedure. The nominal fabric tensile class does not establish an allowable pump pressure.
